Joseph "Joe" W. Stahl, 88, Plainville, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Hays Good Samaritan Center.

He was born March 5, 1924, in Rooks County to Adam and Mary (McMullen) Stahl.

He married Marcelline (Bissett) Stahl on Nov. 26, 1946, in Plainville. He preceded her in death Aug. 16, 2000.

He was a U.S. veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include four sons, Mark Stahl, Hays, Roger Stahl, Dodge City, Greg Stahl and wife, Susan, and John Stahl, all of Plainville; a daughter, Janet Brack and husband, Bud, Dodge City; a sister, Lucille Kuhn and husband, Alfred, Victoria; 15 grandchildren, Tait Stahl and wife, Tania, Cory Stahl and wife, Christy, Brett Stahl and wife, Erin, Josh Stahl and wife, Karen, Adam Stahl, Jason Stahl, Codi Stahl, Keli Kimble and husband, John, Kiva Stahl, Tara Stahl, Tami Henry and husband, Rob, Traci Goddard and husband, Mikey, Jamie Stahl, Brooke Stahl and Kyle Stahl; and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Steven Stahl.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Plainville, with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

A rosary will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to HaysMed Hospice or Sacred Heart Catholic School in care of the funeral home.
