Josephine Zimmerman, 84, Hays, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at Via Christi Village, Hays.

She was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Ellis County to Martin M. and Elizabeth (Basgall) Herrman.

She married Harry H. Zimmerman on Oct. 16, 1954, in Liebenthal. He preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1998. She was a farm wife and a beauty operator at Rose Beauty Shop for many years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Hays Medical Center Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and volunteered in the gift shop at Hays Medical Center for many years.

Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Werth and husband, Marvin, Hays; a step-sister-in-law, Clara Rose Munsch, Ness City; and 17 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eugene Herrman; five sisters, Pauline Herrman, Albertine Schmidt Schreiner, Cleo Breit, Freda Burgardt and Mary Schmidt; and two nephews, Bob Breit and Vern Breit.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Thomas More Prep-Marian High School or to the church in care of the funeral home.
