Juanita Kurtz, 90, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born July 28, 1923, near Smith Center to Arthur (John) Lewis Cronn and Alice (Colhour) Cronn. She was a 1941 graduate of Athol Rural High School and attended Wichita Business College.

She married Robert Glen Kurtz on November 21, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death April 27, 1956. During World War II, she worked for Boeing in Wichita and California Shipbuilding Corp. on Terminal Island. She later worked for the Los Angeles Police Department. She returned to Kansas in 1946. She worked for American Air Filter in Kansas City, Mo., until her retirement. She later had a relationship with Saul Gottlieb who preceded her in death in 1997. She later moved to Hays in 1999.

She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Kansas City, Mo., and First United Methodist Church, Hays.

Survivors include a brother, Arden Cronn and wife, Harriette, WaKeeney; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Arthur Lee, Cecil, Carl, Harold and George; and two sisters, Mildred Stout and Ruth Vickers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Hays; private inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.

Memorials are suggested to Villa Shalom, Trinity Methodist Church, Kansas City, First United Methodist Church or the stroke support group at Fort Hays State University.

Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
