Katherine A. (Speier) Ames, 55, Hays, died Sunday, May, 4, 2008, at Salina Regional Hospital.

She was born June 19, 1952, in Fort Lee, Va., to William (Wimp) and Rebecca (Thigpen) Speier. She was a 1970 graduate of Marian High School.

She married Charles Ames on Sept. 4, 1982. She was a secretary for Speier and Co. and Hays Fire Extinguisher.

Survivors include a son, Robert Ames and wife, Rochelle, Fort Campbell, Ky.; a daughter, Nannette Ames, of the home; her mother, Hays; two brothers, Mark Speier and special friend, Marilyn Ganns, Kansas City, Mo., and Timothy Speier, Hays; two nieces, Alexandria and Rebecca Speier, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Hannah Ames, both of Fort Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, David.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, both at the funeral home.

A wake will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
