Ken Massey, 63, Sterling, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at his home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1950, in Hoisington to Gerald and B. Charylene (Hendricks) Massey. He was a 1968 graduate of Sterling High School, attended Kansas State University from 1968 to 1971 and was a 1973 graduate of Emporia State University with a degree in psychology and business/math minor.

He married Mary Ann Hlavacek on May 26, 1973, in Salina.

He was a youth pastor for Teens for Christ Ministries from 1992 to present and a Kansas State Trooper from 1980 to 1992.

He was a member of Crosspoint Church, Sterling, and Toastmasters of Hays.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Caleb Massey and wife, Sophie, Japton, Ark.; a daughter, Kady Ramspott and husband, Tad, Grass Valley, Calif.; his father, Gerald Massey and stepmother, Juanita, Sterling; a brother, Craig A. Massey and wife, Jen, Welty, Okla.; a sister, Jill A. Broyles and husband, Richard, Greeley, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crosspoint Church, Sterling; burial in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

Memorials are suggested to Teens for Christ or Life Couriers International in care of the funeral home.
