Kenneth C. King, 76, Ellis, died Monday Aug. 27, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 24, 1936, in rural Ellis County to Chris and Anna (Sauer) King.
He worked in construction for many years while living in Colorado before returning to Ellis, where he operated a welding shop until he retired.
He served as the mayor of the city of Ellis and also served as the city superintendent.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and playing cards with his buddies.
Survivors include a son, Kendall and wife, Laura, Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Debra, Ellis; a brother, Marvin, Ellis; two sisters, Carol Armbrister and Elaine King, both of Ellis; and a grandson, Nicklas, Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Robert, Raymond, Larry, Leroy and Alfred Dean; and a sister, Freda Henrickson.
Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637, is arranging private graveside services.
Memorials are suggested to Spruce Villa Activity Fund or Hospice in care of the mortuary.
