Kenneth Joseph Schoenberger, 70, WaKeeney, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

He was born Oct. 28, 1943, on a farm near La Crosse to Victor and Lydia (Kreutzer) Schoenberger.

He married Deborah Lynn Weber on April 20, 1968. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer and rancher.

Survivors include his mother, WaKeeney; two sons, Trent, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Leighton, WaKeeney; three daughters, Heather, Colorado Springs, Jennifer Stroup, Grainfield, and Kira Teeter, Grinnell; seven brothers, John D., Jim, Vic Jr., Wayne, Martin, Kevin and Gerard; three sisters, Verlene Wilson, Phyllis Steaben and MaryJo McCoy; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church; burial in Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a parish vigil immediately following at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Christ the King Catholic Church or Knights of Columbus in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
