Kennith R. McGlasson, 79, WaKeeney, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Elk County. He was a 1952 graduate of Grenola High School. His parents were Reed and Oretha (Wilcoxen) McGlasson.

He married Ruelena Cox on July 20, 1958, in Arkansas City. He joined the Kansas Highway Patrol and spent his entire career in this area, retiring in 1993.

Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Ed McGlasson and Don McGlasson, both of Arkansas City, and Dave McGlasson, Coffeyville; and a sister, Mary Shorter, Ponca City, Okla.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney; burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery with honors by the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The casket will be open an hour prior to service time for viewing. There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to Trego County Hospital Endowment Fund or the Big Creek Golf Course, in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
