Lawrence J. "Larry" Luea, 67, Abilene, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born July 4, 1946, in Ellis to John and Marge (Strohmeier) Luea. He was a graduate of Ellis High School. He graduated from Northwest Area Vo-Tech in Goodland with a degree as a draftsman.

He married Sybil Smith on May 31, 1969, in Ellis. He worked for Alstrom Power in Abilene for many years as a draftsman, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and Elks Lodge, both in Abilene.

He enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Gary Luea and wife, Shryl, Ellis; a sister, Donna Honas and husband, Norbert, Ellis; four nephews, Jeff Honas and wife, Michella, Aurora, Neb., Keith Honas, Ellis, Zach Luea and wife, Emily, Overland Park, and Josh Luea and wife, Erin, Shawnee; and a niece, Andrea Zody and husband, John, Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Mark Honas and Gary Lynn Luea.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Abilene; graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis.

A vigil will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Cemetery Fund or Kansas Elks Training Center for the Handicapped in care of Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 N.W. Third, Abilene, KS 67410.
