LeRoy J. Richmeier, 79, Hays, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born July 19, 1933, in St. Peter to Joe J. and Mary (Stramel) Richmeier.

He married Kathleen M. Brungardt on May 13, 1961, in St. Peter. He was a production foreman for an oil company, farmer and a school bus driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi Council No. 11492 Third Degree Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed farming and raising cattle in addition to gardening and making his lawn look nice.

Survivors include his wife, of the home in Hays; two sons, Mark J. Richmeier and wife, Claudine, Hays, and Dennis Richmeier and wife, Janelle, Wichita; three daughters, Donna Martin and husband, John, Larned, Karla Rohleder and husband, Pat, Collyer, and Mary Claiborn and husband, Rick, Hays; five brothers, Ed Richmeier and wife, Florence, Clear Lake, Wis., Maynard Richmeier and wife, Sharon, Cheyenne, Wyo., Kenneth Richmeier and wife, Peggy, Munjor, Robert Richmeier and wife, Kathleen, Hill City, and Leon Richmeier and wife, Marilyn, Hays; two sisters, Mary Ann Keith and husband, Glenn, Hill City, and Kathleen Rupp and husband, Andy, Hays; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Richmeier; and a granddaughter, Jordyn Claiborn.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, with military honors by the Hays American Legion.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Masses, Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Center or St. Nicholas of Myra Church Faith and Family Center in care of the funeral home.
