LeRoy Maier, 79, Oakley, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Prairie Senior Living Complex, Colby.

He was born March 1, 1935, in Voda to Fred and Elizabeth (Fabrizius) Maier.

He married Constance "Connie" Garrett on Aug. 11, 1976, south of Oakley. He farmed with his siblings south of Voda throughout his life. For 43 years, he hauled cattle for Jim Mitten Trucking Inc.

He served as an active board member for the Country Chapel for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel "Jody" and wife, Bobette, Colby; a daughter, Tina Schiltz, Oakley; five grandchildren, Jackylee, Katelyn and Merit Schiltz, and Ethan and Emma Maier; a great-granddaughter, Caydence Schiltz; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Frieda Maier, Dolly Maier and Marie Armbruster; five brothers, Ismal, Henry, Immanuel, William "Bill" and Rudolph "Rudy;" and a granddaughter, Linsey Catherine Schiltz.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Oakley; cremation has taken place.

Family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.

Memorials are suggested to the Country Chapel in care of the mortuary.
