Leatrice 'Joy' Walker

Leatrice "Joy" Walker, 64, Hutchinson, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Wesley Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 6, 1948, in Liberal to Lester Irving and Beatrice Arthur (Thomson) Reazin. She was a 1966 graduate of Weskan High School and went to beauty school in Colorado Springs, Colo. Later she returned to school and received her licensed practical nurse degree from Central Kansas Area Vocational School, her registered nurse degree from Barton Community College, bachelor's from Newman University and a master's from Wichita State.

She married John A. Walker on July 1, 1972. She owned House of Hair in Sharon Springs and then Joyland Hair Design, Plainville. She was a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse and then a nurse practitioner working at St. Anthony's Hospital in Hays, Plainville Clinic, Hutchinson Clinic, Prairie Star and most recently working for Docs Who Care, an organization that helps provide doctors in rural communities.

She was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, the Kansas Nursing Association and the American Nurses Association.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Jandee "J.J." Walker and companion, Charles Taylor, St. Joseph, Mo., Jonna Upson and husband, Blake, Syracuse, and Gregory Walker, Hutchinson; a brother, Wes Reazin and wife, Katie, Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; four nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, William Irving Reazin.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church; burial will be at noon Mountain time, 1 p.m. Central time Tuesday in Weskan Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Memorials are suggested to American Kidney Association or the American Lung Association, in care of the mortuary.
