LeeRoy A. Legleiter, 78, Great Bend, formerly of Hays, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.
He was born July 17, 1934, in Liebenthal to Anton and Genevieve (Schaffer) Legleiter.
He married Leota Meier on June 13, 1959, in Hays. He was production superintendent for Coronado Oil, retiring in 1999.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 862, Olmitz.
He enjoyed restoring old furniture and tinkering, being known to be able to fix almost anything. He loved God and his family.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Kevin Legleiter and wife, Rebecca, Tulsa, Okla.; seven daughters, Roxann Keenan and husband, Kent, Great Bend, Karla Schartz and husband, Melvin Jr. "Bud," Olathe, Colleen Juergensen and husband, Alan, Salt Lake City, Michelle Schneider and husband, Chris, Olmitz, Lisa Neeland and husband, Steve, Great Bend, Lori Coup and husband, Brent, Clovis, Calif., and Jill Nelson and husband, Rob, Blaine, Minn.; four brothers, Miles Legleiter, Harry Legleiter, Walter Legleiter and Dennis Legleiter; four sisters, Dorthy McCullen, Virginia Kinderkneck, Germaine Degenhardt and Patty Lou Rohr; and 14 grandchildren, Andrew Keenan, Adam Keenan, Michael Schartz, Kate Schartz, Matthew Juergensen, Mason Juergensen, Garret Schneider, Krista Schneider, Tanner Neeland, Allison Neeland, Bryce Coup, Paige Coup, Joshua Nelson and Ainsley Nelson.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Gerald Legleiter, Wilfred "Fritz" Legleiter, Melvin "Mel" Legleiter, Tony Legleiter and Donnie Legleiter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend; burial in Golden Belt Memorial Park, Great Bend.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.
A vigil/Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Family School in care of the funeral home.
