Jeannine passed away at her home on October 20th, 2013, after a brief illness due to a rare and very aggressive cancer. She was born in Kansas City, KS, on April 14th, 1934, to Fay and Ruth (Lashbrook) DeGroot. She graduated from Wyandotte High School and the University of Kansas with degrees and membership in honorary academic societies in both the School of Education and the School of Fine Arts. She married Standlee H. "Bud" Dalton on June 4th, 1955, in Kansas City and taught music in the Prairie Village school district while he attended dental school. Later, while living in France, where Bud was stationed in the Army, she developed an extensive interest in French history and the language. She studied at the University of Poitiers France, and Fort Hays State University and received a master's degree in French and French History. She enjoyed cooking and continued to be an avid student of history. She was a member BQ chapter of PEO. She is survived by her husband ,of the home; daughter Danna Kaiser and husband, Randy of Hays; daughter Lynnly, of Austin, TX and a son Thomas of Gilbert, AZ. She was an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother to Jordyn and Jake Sanders, Sophia Jeannine and Emmett of Hays; Kallyn and Daniel Givan and Graham, Houston, TX; Dallas Kaiser, San Angelo, TX; and Reagan Kaiser, Hays.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 24th, at Hays Memorial Chapel funeral home, 20th and Pine from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Services will be Friday, October 25th, at 11:00 at Celebration Community Church in Hays. Interment will be in the Mount Allen Cemetery in Hays.

Memorials are suggested to Hays Arts Council, Hospice, or Celebration Community Church. Condolences to the family at www.haysmemorial.com.
