Leland H. Schumacher, 86, Victoria, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at his home.

He was born April 13, 1928, on the family farm south of Victoria to Henry A. and Pauline (Dreiling) Schumacher.

He married Lillian Dreiling on Nov. 5, 1962, in Victoria.

He was a farmer, stockman and lived his lifetime in Victoria. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Fidelis and a past parish council member. He was a member of the St. Fidelis Third Degree Knights of Columbus and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly.

Survivors include his wife, Via Christi Village, Hays; two sisters, Jeanette Younger, Victoria, and Paula Schumacher-Palermo and husband, Carl, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Beryl Schumacher, Lubbock, Texas; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Clarence, Linus, Elmer, Melvin, Valery and Norman Schumacher; and four sisters, Ruby Roth, Romilda Schumacher, Viola Schumacher and Irma Jean Dome.

Private family services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Via Christi Village/St. John Chapel, Hays; inurnment in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

A vigil and Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601.

The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly will stand honor guard from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Basilica of St. Fidelis or Fort Hays Senior Companion Program.
