Leonard Hugo Bell

Leonard Hugo Bell, 83, Hays, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born March 6, 1929, in Hays to Leonard and Mary (Bollig) Bell.

He married Rita Wolf in February 2007 in Victoria. He was a machine operator for Thompson Pipe and Steel. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Rita, of Sterling House in Hays; a sister, Neva Gatschet, Hays; his best friend, Harold Giebler, Hays; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Victor and Clarence Bell; and two sisters, Edna Brungardt and Mary Nay.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, with military honors by the Hays VFW.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.

A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the building fund at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or to Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the funeral home.
