Leroy "Lee" Heikkila, 67, Great Bend, formerly of Billings, Mont., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Great Bend Regional Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1945, in Superior, Wis., to Eino and Alice (Humann) Heikkila.
He married Cecilia Ross on Sept. 1, 1996, in Great Bend. He was a drug and alcohol addictions counselor at Dream Inc., and worked in construction and painting.
He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, playing poker with his friends, drinking coffee on the porch with his wife, and watching the KU Jayhawks win.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Scott Lund, Minneapolis; two daughters, Tamara Hurd and husband, Robert, Rockwall, Texas, and Tysha Sharma and husband, Rajat, Upper Marlboro, Md.; a sister, Lola Marks, Minneapolis; two brothers, Jerome Heikkila, Osseo, Minn., and Tim Heikkila, Tallahassee, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Robert Hurd, Aaron Hurd, and Kenan Hurd; two nieces; two nephews; and his dog, Dazzle.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend; burial at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Cares, Inc. for Assistance Dogs, in care of the funeral home.
