Linus Jacob Miller, 87, Hays, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Cypress Springs Alzheimer's Care Center, Wichita.

He was born July 22, 1925, in Hays to A.R. and Seraphine (Ruder) Miller. He was a 1944 graduate of Hays High School.

He married Laurinda Pfannestiel on Jan. 31, 1951, in Hays. He was a diesel mechanic at Service Pipeline company and worked in the maintenance departments at St. Joseph Military Academy and Hays Post Office. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Sunflower Chapter of Volga Germans and Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9076.

Survivors include his wife, Hays; a son, Ronald Miller and wife, Debbie, Wichita; two daughters, Tomme Lynn Williams, Hays, and Sue Carey and husband, Paul, Hutchinson; a brother, Wayne Miller and wife, Wanda, Hays; two sisters, Sylvia Edwards and husband, Bert, Hays, and Patty Schmidtberger and husband, Robert, Victoria; and six grandchildren, Kevin Miller, Tiffany Miller, Geoffrey Miller, Jenna Miller, Jason Carey and wife, Becca, and Alison Carey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Donald and Harlan; two sisters, Alice McCord and Inez Mai; and a son-in-law, Bobby Ray Williams.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military honors by Hays VFW Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice of Wichita or IHMC-Forward to Faith Fund in care of the funeral home.
