Lloyd 'Lloydy' L. Hafliger

Lloyd "Lloydy" L. Hafliger, 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

He was born Jan. 7, 1930, in rural Trego County to George and Sara Abbey (Mummert) Hafliger.

He married Joyce Maria Black on July 23, 1954. She preceded him in death April 17, 1965. He later married Joanne Louise Smith on Feb. 5, 1971, in Jetmore. For more than 20 years, he worked as a skilled mechanic, fixing cars and trucks at the Standard station in WaKeeney. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, of the family home; three sons, Glenn, Jason and Larry, all of WaKeeney; two daughters, Nancy Ochs, Bolivar, Mo., and Penny Demel, Great Bend; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to Lloyd Hafliger Memorial Fund in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
