Lloyd R. Schneider, 88, Coffeyville, formerly of Russell, died Friday, June 20, 2014, at Windsor Place Nursing Center, Coffeyville.

He was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Bazine to Henry and Elizabeth (Strecker) Schneider. He attended school in Paradise.

He married Marjorie (Hoopes) Schneider on June 7, 1953, in Paradise. She preceded him in death June 2, 1986. He worked at Russell High School and Bickerdyke Grade School prior to retirement in 1989. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1942 to 1946.

Survivors include three sons, Henry Schneider, Salina, Martin Schneider, Russell, and Timothy Schneider, Thornton, Colo.; and three daughters, Alice Morris, Coffeyville, Diane Bell, Emporia, and Beverly Hartsook, Russell; three sisters, Catherine Barnes, Dodge City, Alda Weigle, Texas, and Grace Michaelis, Russell; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carlene "Jo," in October 1989.

Gravside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to Windsor Place Nursing Home Alzheimer's unit in care of the mortuary.
