Loren Arthur Gugler, 84, Ellis, died July 26, 2012, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
He was born March 6, 1928, in Hays to Ralph and Anna (Lishen) Gugler. He was a 1946 graduate of Ellis High School.
He married Phyllis Meyer on Feb. 12, 1955, in Chicago. He was a clerk for Union Pacific Railroad and an Ellis mail carrier, retiring in 1983 to start farming full-time. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Japan.
He was a member of Ellis United Methodist Church; Ellis Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was a past commander; American Legion of Hays; past board member of Ellis School Board; Ellis Credit Union, Golden Belt Co-op and the YMCA.
Survivors include his wife, Ellis; two sons, David Gugler, Hays, and Doug Gugler and wife, Ann, Ellis; a sister, Linda Headstream, Centennial, Colo.; and two grandsons, Scott Gugler, Hays, and Tanner Gugler, Ellis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marcy Gugler; a grandson, Anthony Gugler; a brother, Harold Gugler; and a sister, Lois Ann Gaschler.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Ellis United Methodist Church; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, with military honors by Ellis VFW.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Ellis United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
