Loren C. Beougher, 79, Raytown, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012.

He was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Orion to Merlyn and Vivian Beougher. He earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Kansas State University in 1958 and earned a master of science in electrical engineering in 1968. He earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1971 from the University of Missouri.

He married Jo Ann Bethurum on Aug. 23, 1960, in Paola. He worked for Bendix until his retirement in 1986. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Oriskany in Korea from 1951 to 1955.

Survivors include his wife, of 52 years; three sons, Ray Von, Roy Vern and Kevin Lee; two brothers, Marvin and Elton; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Methodist Church, Gove; burial in Gove Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the DAV Memorial Program or Gove County Historical Association in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney KS 67672.
