Lucy Ann Brull, age 83, passed away on December 9, 2010, at Hays Medical Center. She was born in Walker, KS, on August 18, 1927, to Frank and Anna (Schippers) Schulte and was the sixth of seven children.

Lucy was raised on a farm near Walker and graduated from Victoria High School. She continued her education at Marymount College in Salina where she majored in music education. She taught music in Ransom, Victoria, Catherine, Walker and Munjor schools.

She married Robert "Bob" F. Brull on November 10, 1956. He died October 27, 2009. Lucy was a devoted wife and mother. Together, she and Bob raised six children. She loved to cook and was an excellent seamstress, sewing and cooking for family and friends.

Besides teaching music in the school system, Lucy played and taught piano, enjoying music all of her life. Above all, she loved living on the farm and was deeply devoted to her faith and family.

Lucy is survived by her six children: Francine Hestermann (Tom), Hays; Steve Brull, Yukon, Oklahoma; Luciana Brull, Hays; Christel LeSuer (Dale), Topeka; Anne Stecklein (Chris), Sugarland, Texas; and Rob Brull (Sara), Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Jeremy Coulter, Hays; Joshua Coulter, Stamford, Connecticut; Leslie LeSuer, Topeka; Michael Stecklein, Luke Stecklein, Catherine Stecklein, Martina Stecklein, all of Sugarland, Texas; Vincent Brull, and Stewart Brull, both of Dallas, Texas; and a great-grandchild, Sophia Mickelson-Coulter, Hays.

Other survivors include one brother, Raymond Schulte, Victoria.

She was preceded in death by five brothers: Ott, Victoria; Bill, Densmore; Louis, Norton; Ralph, Russell; and Elmer, Walker.

Celebration of the funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. on Monday, December 13, at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Hays, with Father Daryl Olmstead presiding.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. and a Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary at 7:30 pm all at Hays Memorial Chapel. Visitation on Monday will be from 9 until 9:30 a.m. Memorials are suggested to Thomas More Prep-Marian for the benefit of the girls' athletic programs, and for Saint Nicholas of Myra Church, in care of the funeral home.
