Luella Marie (Kuhn) Schumacher, 86, Hays, died Monday, July 14, 2014, at Via Christi Village, Hays.

She was born Nov. 3, 1927, in St. Peter to Joseph and Barbara (Riedel) Kuhn. She attended school in St. Peter.

She was a nurse's aide for 22 years at St. Anthony Hospital and Hays Medical Center, working in the nursery. She retired in 1996.

She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and Ladies Guild.

She enjoyed sewing, growing her roses and her family.

Survivors include two sons, Calvin "Cal" Schumacher, Wichita, and Jay Schumacher and wife, Karyn, Victoria; two daughters, Tonia Houghton and Kenda Anderson, both of Hays; a brother, Alvin Kuhn, Hays; two sisters, Florentine Bates and husband, Ray, Knoxville, Tenn., and Helen Anderson, Wichita; five grandchildren, Jeremiah Schumacher, Jacob Houghton, Kara Evins, Curtis Koerner, and Chase Anderson; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ed, Adolph, Mark and the Rev. Herbert Kuhn; six sisters, Euphrosine Sander, Katie Brungardt, Lorine Polak, Barbara Kuhn, Mary King and a juvenile, Adolphine Kuhn.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil/St. Nicholas Ladies Guild rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center or Women Infant Care Center at Hays Medical Center in care of the mortuary.
