Patrick Alexander Madden

Patrick Alexander Madden, 83, Hays, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home.

He was born June 6, 1925, in Hays, to William Joseph and Marena Sevier Madden. He attended Fort Hays State University and the University of Kansas.

He married Joyce Neff on April 3, 1953, in Topeka. He was a geologist and oil lease broker.

He was active in soil conservation on family property and lifelong Ellis County resident.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, John Patrick Madden, Wichita; two daughters, Pamela Joyce Truman, Rexford, Mont., and Lisa Joyce Madden, Ulysses; two sisters. Nancy Sevier Madden, Hays, and Marina Hiatt, Port Townsend, Wash.; two grandsons, Ben Madden, Ulysses, and Luke Truman, Rexford; two granddaughters, Amanda Truman and Laura Truman, both of Rexford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Francis Madden Sr. and Dr. William Joseph Madden II, and three sisters, Mollie Madden, Alice Bogren and Susan Gittings.

Services will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center or the Area Agency on Aging, in care of Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.
