Marcellus 'Celly' Schmeidler

Marcellus 'Celly" Schmeidler, 95, Stone Mountain, Ga., formerly of Hays, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home in Stone Mountain.
He was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Catherine to Emil and Catherine (Dinkel) Schmeidler.
He farmed, worked in the oilfield and later worked and retired from the building and grounds department at the University of Minnesota. He moved back to Hays in 1990 and moved to Stone Mountain in December 2011. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of Hays American Legion.
Survivors include a sister, Isabella Staab, Pratt; a sister-in-law, Margerie Schmeidler; a step-sister, Juanita Hoffman; his caregivers, Beverly Brungardt, Mona Fox, Katie Crippen, Joy Edwards and Jarod Clark; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joseph, Isadore, Robert, Albert and Elmer Schmeidler; a sister, MaryAnn Lang; an infant brother, Marcella Schmeidler; and three step-sisters, Generose Burgman, Lenore Billinger and Mary Ann Leiker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine, Hays; burial in St. Severin Cemetery, Severin, with military honors by Hays American Legion and VFW.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
