Margaret Hattan, 85, Concordia, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia.
She was born Dec. 30, 1927, in rural Deweese, Neb., to James and Clara (Barta) Mazour. She was a 1945 graduate of Nelson High School.
She married Hubert "Hugh" Hattan on June 7, 1949, in Deweese. He preceded her in death Feb. 25, 2009. After graduating high school, she worked at the office of the county treasurer. She later worked for Continental Oil Co. in Lincoln, Neb. In July 1952, they moved to Concordia where he started his dental practice with Dr. C.J. Whitney.
She was involved with Jaycee Jaynes (president), Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls (council president, plus leader and other board positions). She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for almost 50 years and served as regent and other offices. She was a member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the CCHC Auxiliary. She served as president and on other committees and as a member of the Altar Society and two bridge clubs.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Greg Hattan and wife, Janice, Concordia, Richard Hattan and wife, Patti, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Dr. Mike Hattan and wife, Carla, Hays; two daughters, Susan Kittrell and husband, Steve, Washington, and Linda Logan and husband, Ron, Olathe; two sisters, Kathryn Murtaugh and Cecilia Mazour, both of Lincoln, Neb.; her grandchildren, Justin and Jennifer Hattan, Brett and Brandon Logan, Jessica (Hattan) Christensen and Paul Hattan, Holly and Ross Hattan; and her great-grandchildren, Alexander and Benjamin Christensen and Colin Logan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister, Mary.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; burial in St. Concordia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
An Altar Society rosary will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Brown Grand Theatre in care of the funeral home.
