Marjorie Jean Von Lehe

Marjorie Jean Von Lehe, 69, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, after a four-year battle with colon cancer.

She was born March 5, 1943, in Emporia to Walter and Orvis (Edwards) Rollins. She was a 1961 graduate of Alma High School.

She married Delmar Von Lehe on June 24, 1962, in Alma. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June.

She worked for Manhattan Wholesale Meat Co. In 1971, they moved to Ness City and begin farming. She worked for Jenny's Fabric, Hertel Taxidermy, South Fork Meat Processing and Ralph's Supermarket.

She was involved in many organizations and served on several boards throughout her years in Ness City, including 4-H, 4-H Extension council, Farm Bureau board, Credit Union board and FSA board. She ran the tractor, baler and wheat truck.

She enjoyed bowling. They bowled on leagues while in the Manhattan area and continued when they moved to western Kansas. She participated in 40 state bowling tournaments, 33 national tournaments and was a member of a traveling team that let her see the inside of about every bowling alley in western and central Kansas

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jeff Von Lehe and Jim Von Lehe and wife, Sheila; a daughter, Kristie Copeland and husband, Gerome; a sister, Janice Davies; a niece, Merlene Hougland and husband, John; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Von Lehe and Bonnie Von Lehe; eight grandchildren, Andrew (AJ), Levi, Candee, Drew and Tucker Von Lehe, Gwendolyn and Gretchen Copeland, and Missy (Milo) Lippelmann; and a great-granddaughter, Ryllie Lippelmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers-in-law, Mervin Davies and Delbert Von Lehe.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City; burial in Ness City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Ness City Relay for Life or American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
