Mark Baird, 58, Hays, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1954, in Lucas to Harold G. and Alice Faye (Meitler) Baird. He was a 1972 graduate of Hays High School and a 1981 graduate of Fort Hays State University.

He was a computer programmer. He served in the U.S. military.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include a son, Travis Baird and wife, Samantha, The Colony, Texas; a daughter, Ashley Baird, Dallas; a brother, Jerry Baird and wife, Linda, Pratt; a sister, Tracy Legleiter and husband, Roger, Hays; a grandson, Carter, The Colony; four nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Larry.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to an education fund for his grandson, in care of the funeral home.
