Martha Jean Deines, 84, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013.

She was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Bazine to Alexander and Dollie (Becker) Stieben.

She married John H. Deines Jr. on Jan. 3, 1948 in Raton, N.M. They celebrated 64 years together. She was a homemaker all her life, working outside of the home as a nurse's aide at Grisell Memorial Hospital, Ransom, and a claims processor at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Topeka. She was at her husband's side for his growing and prosperous lawn mower business, taking her crocheting projects with her as they traveled.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW No. 7972 and Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam Rosenberry, Douglass, and Kathy Berry, Canton; a sister, Rosie Swanson, Belleville; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bazine Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Home Health of Kansas, 7607 E. Harry, Wichita, KS 67207.
