Martha Marie (Portschy) Korbe, 83, Hays, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Locust Grove Village Nursing Home, La Crosse.

She was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Herndon to John and Frances (Mosher) Portschy.

She married Nicholas Korbe Sr. on May 14, 1951, in Hays. He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2013. She worked at the ASCS office in Russell and Ellis County, and was a bookkeeper for Nick Korbe Cable Tools for many years and retired in 1982. After retirement, she and her husband started Nick Korbe Wood Crafts.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.

She enjoyed bowling, making quilts, going to the casino, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Nicholas Korbe Jr. and wife, Connie, Hays; two daughters, Jan Brungardt and husband, Gene, Victoria, Linda Brazda and husband, Dennis, Hays; a sister-in-law, Eileen Portschy, Herndon; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 16 step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Harold "Pooch" Portschy; a sister, Hazel Henderson; a grandchild, Kerri Korbe; and a great-grandchild, Jenna Jo Brungardt.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd Street, Hays, KS 67601.

A Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, in care of the mortuary.
