Martin Weber, 89, Oakley, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014.

He was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Gove County to Jakob and Rosa (Herrmann) Weber.

He married Antonia Heier on April 28, 1948. She preceded him in death. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and received a Silver Star.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus and the Oakley Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served on the Rural Life Board, Oakley Senior Citizens Board and was part of the St. Joseph School Building Committee.

Survivors include three sons, James Weber and wife, Sue, Oakley, Mike Weber and wife, Deanne, Gordonville, Texas, and Eugene Weber and wife, Theresa, Hennessey, Okla.; five daughters, Elaine Stone and husband, Pete, and Ilene Nickel and husband, Roy, all of Oakley, Karen Weber, Colby, Rose Yeager and husband, Rick, Great Bend, and Pauline Unruh and husband, Gary, Cheyenne Wells, Colo.; three brothers, Larry Weber, Sil Weber and Al Weber; three sisters, Maggie Gassmann, Marie Meier and Dilly Reidel; three brothers-in-law, Bill Heier, Felix Heier and wife, Katherine, and Tom Heier and wife, Margaret; three sisters-in-law, Lena Zerr, Bernice Heier and Tina Bockwinkel; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Justin Gibson; two great-grandchildren, Brendon Givens and Braxton Marcum; a son-in-law, John Moreland; five brothers, Bart, Cely, Tony, Henry and Msgr. John George Weber; a sister, Minnie Christenson; his father and mother-in-law, Ben and Margaret Heier; eight brothers-in-law, Johnny Reidel, Al Meier, George Christenson, Con Gassmann, Leo Zerr, Alfred Heier, Frank Heier and Augustine Heier; and two sisters-in-law, Jo Heier and Margaret Heier.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Oakley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School or St. Joseph Cemetery in care of Baalmann Mortuary, P.O. Box 204, Oakley, KS 67748.
