Mary Alice (Newman) Martin, 87, Russell, formerly of Wichita and Lyons, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Main Street Manor, Russell.
She was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Douglass to Virgil F. and Ora J. (Wares) Newman. She grew up and attended school in Douglass and Madison.
She married Troy Harold Martin on Nov. 5, 1941, in El Dorado. He preceded her in death Oct. 29, 2005. She was a cook for Bickerdyke School in Russell for more than 15 years.
Survivors include a son, Terry H. Martin, Cartwright, Okla.; a daughter, Donnie J. Miller, Russell; a brother, Gean Newman, Lyons; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Otterbein United Methodist Church; burial in Russell City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
Memorials are suggested to Russell Regional Hospital in care of the mortuary.
