Mary Esther (Meier) Rupp, 95, Wichita, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Catholic Care Center, Wichita.

She was born May 15, 1917, in Hays to Franz A. and Catherine (Keiner) Meier. She was a 1935 graduate of Girls Catholic High School.

She married Celestine F. Rupp on Oct. 24, 1938. He preceded her in death. They resided in Stockton for 36 years where they owned the John Deere dealership and raised their family. They later moved to Hays, and in 2009, she moved to Wichita.

Survivors include a son, Terry Rupp and wife, Sandy, Wichita; a daughter, Shannon Barnes, Royal Oak, Mich.; a sister, Cotty Seitz-Miles, Hays; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two infant children; her granddaughter, Holly Rupp Flannagan; a brother, Joe Meier; and five sisters, Aurelia Rolfe, Lydia Moore, Virginia Rolfe, Margaret Fellers and Rita Rupp.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Thomas More Prep-Marian High School, in care of the funeral home.
