Mary Jane Polifka, 77, Hays, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Locust Grove Village Nursing Home, La Crosse.

She was born March 25, 1935, in Codell to Nick N. and Philomene (Dreiling) Rohleder. She was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School.

She married Arlen Polifka on Feb. 16, 1957, in Emmeram. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Arlen, of the home in Hays; three sons, David Polifka and special friend, Cindy Braun, Quinter, Mark Polifka and wife, Karin, Ellis, and John Polifka and wife, Eliane, San Diego; a brother, Val Rohleder, Abilene; two sisters, Rita Wolf and Josita Pfannenstiel, both of Hays; her grandchildren, Justin and Amy Polifka, Joel and Allison Polifka, Joey and Audrey Girard, Jared Polifka, Bethany Polifka, Sam Polifka, Kiara Polifka and Alex Polifka; and three great-grandchildren, Braden, Camden and Bryson Polifka.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Rohleder; two sisters, Petronella Graf and Theresa VonLintel; and a great-grandson, Hudson Polifka.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 E. 13th; burial in St. Catherine Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, and from 9:15 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center or Masses in care of the funeral home.
