Mary Leiker, 86, Hays, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Antonino to Mike and Mary (Steckline) Befort.

She married Eugene "Gene" Leiker on Nov. 15, 1944, in Antonino. He preceded her in death Sept. 17, 2002.

She was a cook for many years at Fort Hays State University and Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Ric Leiker and wife, Jolene, and Rod Leiker and wife, Lori, all of Hays, and Dennis Leiker and wife, Linda, Houston; a daughter, Linda Sekavec and husband, Ron, Ness City; two brothers, George Befort, Phoenix, and Jim Befort, Broomfield, Colo.; two sisters, Roseanne Giebler and Dorothy Gottschalk, both of Hays; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Leiker, and many brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Saturday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.

A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in Mary's memory to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
