Mary M. Wilmott, 84, of Colorado Springs, passed away January 12, 2013, at Pikes Peak Hospice. She was born in St. Peter, Kansas, on July 19, 1928, the third of 12 children born to the late Raymond and Genevieve Rome.
Family and friends were extremely important in her life. She had a magnetic personality and literally made friends everywhere she went. Even while battling cancer, she never stopped helping others and always was the life of the party. Her passion for polka dancing was contagious. She danced until the very end.
She lived in Colorado Springs since 1977 and was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and International Polka (Dance) Club.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bud" Wilmott, three brothers and one sister. She leaves behind to cherish her memory eight loving children, Kathy Favreau, Earl (Joanne) Gosselin, Wayne Gosselin, Elaine (Mike) Balthazor, Kenn (Lisa) Patton, Kevin Gosselin, Dann (Annie) Gosselin, and Julie (Brent) Miller; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister; six brothers; as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rosary will take place Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 4 p.m., followed by visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs. A celebration of Mary's life will be at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, followed by a reception. Graveside services at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO, immediately following reception.
