Melosyna 'Mellie' Geist Stecklein

Melosyna "Mellie" Geist Stecklein, 87, Glenwood Springs, Colo., died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her home.

She was born March 5, 1926, in Victoria to Jacob and Aloyisa "Louise" (Koerner) Geist.

She married Edwin Stecklein on May 26, 1947, in Hays. He preceded her in death in December 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Kay Stecklein, Glenwood Springs; her caregiver, Frank Soderberg; a sister, Rita (Geist) Cassett, McPherson; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald "Ronnie" Joseph Stecklein; a twin brother, Rudolph Geist; two brothers, Eugene and Wilfred Geist; and five sisters, Josephine Weigel, Martina Pfeifer, Felicitas Malsom, Eleanor Schmeidler and Rosalina Schmidt.

Services will be at 11 a.m. June 22 at Assumption Catholic Church, Welby, Colo.; burial at a later date in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.

A rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. June 22 at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 234 Cody Lane, Basalt, CO 81621.
