Melvin E. Johnson, 94, Hoxie, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Sheridan County Health Complex, Hoxie.

He was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Brewster, Neb., to Orville A. and Alice (Chamberlain) Johnson.

He married Liona Ann Watkins on Sept. 8, 1939, in Hoxie. She preceded him in death Dec. 28, 1975.

Survivors include four sons, Darryll Johnson, Bellevue, Wash., Richard Johnson, Pavillion, Wyo., Roger Johnson, Hoxie, and Bob Johnson, Maple Hill; a daughter, Barbara Johnston, Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hoxie Presbyterian Church; burial in Hoxie City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, P.O. Box 987, Hoxie, KS 67740.

Memorials are suggested to Hoxie Masonic Lodge or Hoxie United Methodist Video Fund in care of the funeral home.
