Melvin Edward Meier

Melvin Edward Meier, 84, Dorrance, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Salina Regional Hospital.

He was born May 12, 1929, in rural Dorrance to George and Lena (Luerman) Meier. He was a 1947 graduate of Bunker Hill High School.

He married Faith I. Marsh on June 28, 1948, in Russell. She preceded him in death Aug. 19, 1981. He was a farmer.

Survivors include a son, Rodney Meier, Salina; a daughter, Marsha Cobb, Salina; his companion, Bernice Christopher; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; and an infant daughter, Sari Jean Meier.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; burial in Bunker Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Friday with family present to greet guests from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Bunker Hill Museum or Bunker Hill United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.
