Merl L. Gager, 79, Plainville, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his home.

He was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Stockton to Ira and Alice (Hoops) Gager.

He married Donna (Harding) Gager on Feb. 2, 1985, near Plainville.

He was a automotive mechanics and industrial arts teacher at Plainville High School for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Plainville; a son, Mikel Gager, Grand Island, Neb.; a daughter, Jorja Campbell, Stockton; two stepsons, Brett Hughes, Hoisington and Corey Hughes, Fairfield, Texas; a half-sister, Carol Carmody, Albuquerque, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Woodston Cemetery with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Cremation has been chosen; friends can sign the register book Friday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville.

Memorials are suggested to Merl Gager Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
