Milred June (von Forell) Schuette, 91, Hays, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Wheatland Nursing Center, Russell.

She was born June 23, 1922, near Lenora in Graham County to August G. and Maude M. (McKenney) von Forell. She was a 1940 graduate of Norton Community High School.

She has been a Hays resident since 1979. She was a florist at Drakes Norton Greenhouse from 1958 to 1975 and was a bookkeeper at Hadley Hospital and High Plains Mental Health Center from 1979 to 1985.

She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Business Professional Women from 1958 to 1985. She was a volunteer at the Hadley Hospital gift shop and enjoyed flowers.

Survivors include three sons, Galen McFarland and wife, Rose, Hays, Gary McFarland and wife, Martha, Edwardsville, Ill., and Greg McFarland, Olathe; a daughter, Gloria Battin and husband, John, Ulysses; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur von Forell; and two sisters, Fern Russ and Cleo Stone.

Private family services will be Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine; private family burial in Lenora South Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Hays Christian Church or Thomas More Prep-Marian girls' basketball team in care of the funeral home.
