Ferne Elizabeth Miley, 91, Salina, formerly of Kanopolis, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010,

She was born June 10, 1919, in Lincoln County to Lon W. and Anna M. (Ahring) White.

She was a homemaker, school bus driver and switchboard operator in the Vesper community. She was a nurse's aide for the hospitals in Lincoln and Ellsworth and was a child care provider while living in Salina.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Kanopolis American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed traveling, camping, reading and crossword puzzles, and she loved her grandchildren very much.

Survivors include four sons, Robert and Gary Wacker, both of Kanopolis, John Wacker, Ellsworth, and Steve Miley, Salina; a daughter, Kathie Taylor, Hays; three sisters, Ann Leiker and Lola Short, both of Salina, and Delores Panzer, Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow, in 1999; three brothers, Paul, Floyd and Everett White; and a grandchild, Jamie Beth Keller, in 2001.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina; burial in Kanopolis Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post No. 325 or the Kanopolis United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.
