Milford Francis 'Mike' Pelland

Milford Francis "Mike" Pelland, 84, Russell, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Russell Regional Hospital.

He was born July 10, 1925, in Clyde to Willard and Edna (Roy) Pelland. He was a graduate of Clyde High School.

He married Mildred H. Mosher on Nov. 7, 1943, in Beloit. She preceded him in death Sept. 6, 2002. He worked for the Kansas Power & Light Co. following the war. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Jack Pelland, Topeka; three daughters, Shirley Crawford, Bunker Hill, and Kathy Bray and Debra Wehling, both of Russell; a sister, Lila Cleveland, Concordia; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; burial in Russell City Cemetery, with military rites by Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240 Honor Guard.

Memorials are suggested to Russell VFW Post No. 6240 in care of the mortuary.
