Delmar "Slug" Mongeau, 83, Salina, formerly of Zurich, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at Windsor House, Salina.

He was born May 2, 1926, near Zurich to Alexander and Celine (Saindon) Mongeau. He graduated from Palco High School and attended Fort Hays State University.

He married Adeline M. Plante on Oct. 27, 1951, in Stockton. She preceded him in death June 5, 2009. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Mongeau, Salina, and Jay Mongeau, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; four daughters, Mechelle Thomson, Salina, Janelle Sherman, Tescott, Kim Mongeau, Kansas City, Mo., and Monique Phillips, WaKeeney; two step-daughters, Janet Hrabe and Donna Gosselin, both of Bogue; a sister, Malvina Comeau, Canonsburg, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rockie Mongeau.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in St. Ann's Cemetery, Zurich.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel.

A Ladies Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. today at the chapel.

A vigil will be until 8 p.m. today at the chapel.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Research Foundation in care of the the chapel.
