Monica Hickmott Therrien, 44, Copperas Cove, Texas, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, succumbed to cancer at her home.

Two days before she passed, she married her best friend, her caregiver, Richard Therrien. She was a U.S. Army veteran who spent 15 months in Iraq and then received a medical discharge.

She enjoyed her family, horses, dogs and her Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; her children, Susan Grunt, Helen Grunt, of the home, Jerry Grunt, of the home, and Dakota Thomas, of the home; her parents, Mary Leidig, Timken, and Jerry Leidig and wife, Sue, Salina; her grandmother, Doris Steward, Salina; three brothers, Alex Leidig and family, Abilene, Garth Leidig and family, Salina, and Charles Leidig and wife, Rebekah, Hays; two daughters, Margaret Leidig, Great Bend, and Dorothy Leidig, Tonasket, Wash.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Central Texas Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas, with full military honors.

A service for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the home, 511 John Henry, Copperas Cove. Viewing and sharing will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Copperas Cove.

If anyone would like to help the family with expenses, checks can be made to Susan Grunt, power of attorney.
