Monica M. Halbleib, 59, Ness City, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center, Wichita.

She was born April 8, 1955, in Concordia. She was adopted by Al and Mary Walters Pfeifer on April 10, 1955.

She grew up in La Crosse and went to Dodge City Community College and Barton County College, where she received her licensed practical nurse and registered nurse degrees.

She married Chuck Halbleib on June 2, 1979. They had two daughters, Erin Denger and Anita Halbleib. She became a mother-in-law to Todd Denger in 2009, and a grandmother to Anita's daughter, Khloe, in 2013.

In 2010, she found her biological family. She had six siblings. Those surviving include Nancy, Vickie, Ray, Mary and Ronald.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edwin.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. April 26 at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City; burial will be at a later date in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, McCracken.

A rosary will be at 6 p.m. April 25 at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Alport Syndrome Foundation or St. Mary Cemetery Fund in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.
