Neva Jean (Parsons) Haberer, 85, Luray, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, in Russell.

She was born April 7, 1928, in Osborne County to Archie and Jessie Marie (Van Amburg) Parsons.

She attended grade school at  Prairie Dale School in Osborne County. She was a 1946 graduate of Luray High School and earned a teaching certificate from Fort Hays State College.

She married Rudolph Richard Haberer on Feb. 9, 1947, in Russell. He preceded her in death. They were co-owners of R & J Service, originally R & O Service, established in Luray in 1963. She was a bookkeeper for  the business for 33 years.

Survivors include a son, Rudy Haberer, Luray; three daughters, Lynda Weichel, Naperville, Ill., Beverly Hinchcliff, Topeka, and Kimberly Ptacek, Victoria; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Luray City Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 5 p.m. Monday, with family to greet guests from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to local youth group, Kids for Christ or Down Syndrome Society, Wichita, in care of the mortuary.
