Norbert Dreiling

Norbert "Norb" Dreiling, 80, Russell, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

He was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Victoria to Michael and Clara (Bollig) Dreiling. He attended school in Victoria.

He married Ina M. Oswald on Feb. 14, 1953, in Russell. She preceded him in death April 16, 2003. He later married Rita Graf on April 24, 2004, in Russell. He was assistant chief of the Russell-Grant Township Fire Department for 31 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Francis Dreiling, Salina; two daughters, Teresa Rogers, Houston, and Carol Boxberger, Russell; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell; burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, with military honors by Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240.

Visitation will be until 5 p.m. today at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at the church. Knights of Columbus 4th Degree will stand honor guard at the vigil.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
