Pastor Norman D. Harmon, 70, Ellis, formerly of Indiana, died Wednesday. June 13, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Mr. and Mrs. Norman D. Harmon Sr.
He married Jane A. Miller in October 1965. He was pastor of the Ellis Baptist Church at the time of his death. He also pastored churches in Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky. Prior to his entering the ministry he worked for the ConRail Railroad in Avon, Ind., for 17 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, but most of all was the sharing of the gospel of Christ with the lost.
Survivors included his wife, of the house; a son, Michael Allen and wife, Patti, Indiana; a brother, Rod Harmon and wife, Brenda, Indiana; two half-brothers, David Harmon, Indiana and Bill Harmon, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Christian, Ricky, Makiya Jane and Bradyn; a niece; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vicki Warweg and Susie Harmon; a brother, Joe Harmon; and a son, Rick Harmon.
Services were Thursday at the Ellis Baptist Church, Ellis.
Services, visitation and burial will be held June 20, at the Springer Voorhis Draper Funeral home, Monticello, Ind.
